The Marriage of Figaro

Synopsis:

The visit followed the usual pattern: leaving Falmouth at 1.30pm, with pickups at the Norway Inn and Truro arriving in Plymouth at around 3.30pm, allowing some time in the city before dinner at around 5.30pm before the performance at 7.15pm.

Members will be given an opprtunity to spend the afternoon shopping in Plymouth.

Bosvigo House, Truro

Synopsis:

An opportunity to see some of the nationally renowned collection of hellebores (some of which were for sale) as well as other Spring bulbs and flowering trees. The owner gave us a guided tour of the house which includes a rare survival of a Georgian kitchen.

Compton Castle, Dartington Hall and Greenway

Synopsis:

  • Totnes in time for lunch
  • Compton Castle – tea in private apartments
  • Overnight stay and dinner – Dartington Hall
  • Ferry trip to Greenway (Agatha Christie)

Italian Lakeland Gardens

Synopsis:

The fabulous scenery and benign climate of the north Italian lakes have attracted the aristocrats and wealthy citizens of Italy for centuries and today their elegant villas and lush gardens complement the natural landscape perfectly. From our base in Stresa, known as the Pearl of the Lake because of its magnificent location in the centre of the Gulf of Borromeo, we will explore a succession of villas and their gardens, bursting with colour and fragrance, all set against a breathtaking backdrop of snow-capped mountains and glittering water.

The cost will include return flights from Bristol to Milan, all visits to the gardens as specified, boat transfers as required and return coach between Stresa and Milan airport.
