PENLEE HOUSE GALLERY AND THE KURT JACKSON GALLERY

Synopsis:

We visited Penlee House Gallery in the morning arriving by 10am and after a guided tour of the Lamorna Birch exhibition, and a bite of lunch afterwards we will move onto the Kurt Jackson Gallery in St Just. We will have about an hour in this gallery before returning home.

The total cost will be £20 and include a Penlee House Gallery Guide but excludes admission as many members enjoy PHG concessionary entry. Entrance to the Kurt Jackson Gallery is free.

We will travel in an executive style Williams Coach and depart ASDA Penryn at 08.45 and return 16.30.

HAMPTON COURT & WINDSOR CASTLE

Synopsis:

Friday 27 March 2026 - 3 Day Tour

A truly Royal tour taking in two of England’s finest Royal homes. Windsor Castle and Hampton Court Palace reflect the tastes and rich histories of our treasured royal family. They are also home to many items from the Royal Collection, one of the largest and most important private art collections in the world.

Friday

We leave Cornwall in the morning and enjoy a leisurely break for lunch enroute. We arrive at our lovely hotel in time to enjoy dinner.

Saturday

This morning we leave our hotel and travel to nearby Royal Windsor where we visit Windsor Castle, the oldest and largest occupied castle in the world. Founded by William the Conqueror in the 11th century, it has been the home of 40 monarchs and each has left their mark on this mighty residence. St George's Chapel sits within the grounds of Windsor Castle is one of the finest examples of Gothic architecture in England. There will also be the opportunity to explore the beautiful Royal town of Windsor itself.

Sunday

After breakfast we make our way to Hampton Court Palace to experience the public dramas and private lives of Henry VIII. Admire the Great Hall and Tudor kitchens of the spectacular baroque palace as well as sixty acres of magnificent gardens. In the afternoon we begin the journey back to Cornwall arriving home in the evening.

BERYL COOK CENTENARY EXHIBITION

Synopsis:

Our Spring 2026 visit will be to The Box In Plymouth. Opened in September 2020 at a cost of £47 million as part of a regeneration project The Box is a combined museum, art gallery and archive occupying 8000 square metres in central Plymouth and there is obviously much to do and see there.

Next year the popular artist Beryl Cook would have been 100 years old and The Box are staging a comprehensive exhibition of her works, some of which have never been seen by the public before. We will spend the whole day there and be travelling in Williams coach and with free entry to The Box

The pickup point for our Coach will be at ASDA, Penryn at 8.30am (free car parking). Arriving back at approximately 6.00pm

We will stop en route for a comfort/coffee break at Jamaica Inn, high on Bodmin Moor.

There is an excellent café and bar offering a varied menu for lunch or a snack.

MIRRORS REFLECTING ON IDENTITY

Synopsis:

A guided visit to view the gallery’s Summer exhibition - “Mirrors - Reflecting on Identity” - which opens Saturday 16th May (until Saturday 26th September).

Limited to 30 members maximum. Places will be allocated first come first served basis

Appearances can be deceiving, but they can also be a powerful and authentic expression of our true selves. We all construct our own identities but often there is a push and pull as we navigate our inner truths and the expectations of the outside world.

This exhibition explores how artists use self-expression to question roles, challenge norms and reveal the shifting nature of the self. Featuring Sarah Ball, Claude Cahun, Ithell Colquhoun, Gluck, Maggi Hambling, Diane Ibbotson, Kirsty Latoya, Marco Livingstone, Ken Nwadiogbu, Grayson Perry, SHARP, Cindy Sherman, Henry Scott Tuke and others.
