This is a three-year project led by the Cornish Buildings Group and supported by Historic England and the Cornwall Heritage Trust www.cornwallheritagetrust.org. It commenced in September 2020.
The funding will support a case officer whose role is to help identify and monitor buildings at risk and seek solutions for neglected, redundant or derelict buildings, regardless of listing.
For example neglected farm buildings, disused churches and chapels, mine engine houses and street shops will be included.
The Historic England ‘Heritage at Risk’ pages can be found at https://historicengland.org.uk/advice/heritage-at-risk/
Our Society has been assisting the project by raising awareness amongst our membership. We can all play our part in this work by volunteering to report our concerns about particular historic buildings or valued heritage assets in Cornwall which are either derelict or not being properly looked after.
To volunteer or to make further enquiries please contact the Case Officer, Paul Holden, scbgcasework@gmail.com
