Prideaux Place, Padstow

Synopsis:

Prideaux Place has been in the Prideaux family for over 425 years. Their origins go back almost one thousand years to the time of the Norman Conquest, when they are recorded as Lords of the Manor at Prideaux Castle, Luxulyan.

Prideaux Place was completed in 1592 and has changed little in the last four centuries, combining its traditional Elizabethan architecture with the 18th century exuberance of Strawberry Hill Gothic.

The author Winston Graham was a friend of the family, and the house figures in the Poldark novels.

Venue: Prideaux Place, Padstow

Organised by: Falmouth DFAS

Cost: £35 to include coach, coffee on arrival, 2 course lunch, a guided tour of the house and access to the grounds.
