Our visits give members the opportunity to visit places of interest that are not always accessible to the public, and to provide additional information and insight difficult to gain when visiting as an individual.
We may arrange visits to local galleries, historic buildings and performances at various theatres. These trips give people a chance to get to know each other better in an informal atmosphere. Although we are restricted by our geographical situation in the south west corner of the country, we may arrange several visits a year, mainly day trips within Cornwall and Devon, but will also consider visits over several days, either to somewhere in Britain or overseas.
Some of the visits are not organised by us, in which case they would be shown as such, for example 'South West Area Event'. The Visits Secretary would be able to provide information to help you, with all events.
The idea of such a trip appealed to our members. Uncertainty made it impossible to commit for the original date. We will monitor events to see if it would be possible to offer this visits at a later date.
Provisional Plan - Some details might change
Extensive planning has been undertaken by our visits secretary, Mary Neale, for a trip to Vienna next year. This has been put together with an affiliate travel partner, Travel Editions. You can download a brochure below.
This trip is available to members of all the The Arts Societies in Cornwall.
The trip includes visits to the key places and we will be accompanied by an Arts Society accredited lecturer who will give a couple of lectures. This looks like an excellent tour, so do give it some consideration.
If it hadn't been for the "dreaded c word" we would be looking for people to book now. As it is, we have to emphasise that prices and flights cannot be considered definite at this time. However we would love to have expressions of interest from people, so if you feel that in normal circumstances this would be of real interest to you, please make contact with Mary Neale by sending her an email to firstname.lastname@example.org . Clearly there is no obligation implied but we would love to know your potential interest.
This trip fits in nicley with our lecture on 12 March 2021, entitled The Art and Culture of Fin-de-siècle Vienna presented by Gavin Plumley.
