Our 2023-2024 Visits

We may arrange visits to local galleries, historic buildings and performances at various theatres. These trips give people a chance to get to know each other better in an informal atmosphere. Although we are restricted by our geographical situation in the south west corner of the country, we may arrange several visits a year, mainly day trips within Cornwall and Devon, but will also consider visits over several days, either to somewhere in Britain or overseas.

Some of the visits are not organised by us, in which case they would be shown as such, for example 'South West Area Event'. The Visits Secretary would be able to provide information to help you, with all events.

Tate St Ives Barbara Hepworth Museum & Sculpture Garden

We will board our coach at the ASDA Penryn car park at 9.30am and drive down to St Ives. Our Tate St Ives visit will run from approx. 10.30 until 1pm, when we will break for an hours lunch (not included) and resume our visit once more at 2pm from outside the Barbara Hepworth Museum entrance. An experienced guide has been booked at each location.

It’s anticipated that we will arrive back at ASDA Penryn’s car park at approx. 4.30pm. Our cars can be parked free of charge at ASDA Penryn for the duration of our visit.

The current combined entrance fee of £12.50 to both the Tate and BH Museum is NOT included as many members already enjoy a Local Pass, which for the annual cost of £5/year allows unlimited to both locations.

Members wishing to come on this visit but not already in possession of a Local Pass but wishing to purchase one are requested, after booking, to contact the Visits Secretary via email at visits@theartssocietyfalmouth.org when details of how to easily sign up for this money saving Local Pass will be given.

We anticipate considerable interest in this visit as several members have previously asked for it to be arranged and with that in mind early booking is recommended. Numbers are limited to just 24 due to our coach size.

Evita - The Minack Theatre

Evita, Minack Theatre

Fully booked with a waiting list

A combined theatre & coach trip to The Minack, Porthcurno to see a matinée performance of Helston Theatre Company’s production of “Evita” - the highly acclaimed Andrew Lloyd Webber/Tim Rice musical.

The pick up point for our coach will be ASDA, Penryn and they have kindly agreed that we can leave our cars in their car park free of charge for the duration of our trip.

We suggest that you might like bring a picnic lunch or take a light lunch in the theatre’s café as we will be there well before the performance starts at 2.30pm. We envisage we will arrive back at approx. 6.25pm.

Why so far in advance?

This visit is deliberately being advertised early as only 16 tickets will initially be available. The Minack Theatre rigidly monitor coach sizes and a sixteen seater minibus is the largest they will allow to drop off theatregoers in their car park.

However if demand well exceeds availability (which we imagine it will) providing we act fast it might be possible for more to come, providing of course that further tickets and a suitable sized minibus can be sourced for the same performance .

Venue: The Minack, Porthcurno

Organised by: The Arts Society Falmouth

Cost: £44 Inclusive of Coach Travel and Entrance Ticket
